Double Pane Window Installation

Insulated glass may consist of double pane windows or even triple pane windows. The air space sealed in between panes is sometimes substituted by an inert gas, such as argon or krypton, which adds further insulating value to the window. When double pane windows are installed in place of existing single pane windows you will notice an immediate improvement in interior comfort.

If the window’s seal is compromised, which may occur after a period of time due to the expansion and contraction of the spacer separating the panes, the window loses its insulating capability. A broken seal is often obvious by the appearance of condensation on or between the panes. A broken seal must be repaired or replaced in order to return the integrity of a double pane window.

    I had quite a few window panels that were fogged up and/or discolored due to the fact that the seal between the glass panes had been compromised. This made those windows not look as nice outside, difficult to view out, and compromised their insulation value. Initially I looked into replacing the windows in my home, but that was prohibitively expensive, especially given that there were some other home repairs we were looking to make. When I talked to Glass Doctor, they were able to get measurements of all of the panels needing to be replaced, match the low-e coating, and match the color of the grilles between the glass panes. Now, those windows look great, and I was able to get it done for one-fourth of what it would have cost to replace the windows!
